The start of the Koper-Izola cycle tour is from the Bonifika parking lot. You can also start your journey from a number of other car parks in Koper. From the car park, take the path along the football stadium and then turn left along the cycle path immediately after it. Go straight ahead for 1 km past the Bonifika sports hall to the roundabout by the market.
After crossing the roundabout, turn right straight on to Pristaniška Street, which is also the city promenade. Go to the end of the promenade. At the roundabout, take the leftmost road by the Šavor restaurant, the town beach and the Marina.
Continue along the cycle road past the harbour. If you have a lucky day, you may see a large cruise ship moored. Continue for 2k past the old harbour warehouses to the crossroads near the entrance to the Port of Koper, where you will turn right past the former prisons to the crossroads. At the crossroads turn right uphill to Brolo Square.
From here, drive straight along the city's cathedral to Tito's Square, where you can admire all its charms, including the Praetorian Palace on the left, the Armeria on the opposite side and the Loggia on the right.
Follow the same path back to Brolo Square, where you turn right and follow the avenue. At the end of the avenue, turn left and go straight ahead to the first street on the right. Go through Marušič Street and turn left after 100 metres. From here, go straight ahead to Goriška Street. Turn right into the street and go straight ahead to the main road or Vojkovo nabrežje Street.
Go straight ahead for 100 m and turn left at the new student residence. You will then come to a large roundabout where you take the first exit on the right. Go straight on to the second roundabout by the market.
Cross the roundabout at the pedestrian crossing and cross the pedestrian crossing again in the direction of Žusterna or to your left. Follow the cycle path past the new park and recreation areas to the roundabout. Turn right here and drive along the Žusterna seafront,
After Žusterna, the former Koper-Izola Coastal Road, now a cycling and pedestrian zone, starts, taking you to Izola. Here you can admire the sea, the view of Izola and Koper and, in good weather, Italy and the Alps.
After 7 km, you will reach the spot where the Rex cruiser was sunk in II World war. The point is marked on a rock. On the other side of the road you will see some pictures on the wall and read about the history of this event.
From here, continue along the cycle road to the campsite in Izola. At the roundabout from the campsite, turn right and follow the main road to a large car park, where you will turn right at the caravan parking point.
Go straight ahead and then up a slight incline past a narrow road. On your right along this road is a canned fish factory, Delamaris. At the top of the hill, go straight ahead to the crossroads where you see the town's cathedral. At the crossroads, turn right past the Dva Topola building towards the coast.
ou have arrived at the town beach, with a beautiful view, where you will see the Izola Lighthouse on the edge of the beach. From here, head straight along the road, where you can see a mandrake with vintage vessels and the Maria Alietska church.
You will continue along the road, which is considered to be Izola's promenade with cafés and restaurants. At the end of the promenade, at the roundabout by the post office and bus stop, take the third exit out. Go straight along the main road to the campsite. From here you return along the same road back to Koper to your starting point.
